The real Neptune!

The cold air really brings out the blues! I would not trade any of this for the world! With the proper gear, you can handle just about any temperature.

We had some amazing swells in the fall of 2018 and I caught this beauty at Camp Pendleton in VB using my Cannon 7D MarkII and the CMT housing.

Another great fall shot from Pendleton using the IKELITE dive housing. What a beast!

When everyone else was packing their bags and securing their homes, I went right to the beach and shot several days of this amazing swell event! The stuff dreams are made of. At the time I was using a 20lb IKELITE Dive Housing with a wide angle zoom lens. Talk about a challenge! Well worth the swim.

If you get to the beach early you can see the sun piercing the lip of the wave like this just before you duck dive. This was at Camp Pendleton.

I love going to the jetty in Va. Bch. to shoot waves and this beauty just popped up out of nowhere on one of those freezing days recently. The jetty is perfect because I utilize the rip current along the rocks to swim out to the break and then paddle horizontal to the beach to get out of the rip and get in the lineup.

The ice crystals in our area during winter create the most amazing refractions of light on the water! Cannon 7D MarkII, CMT water housing.

Even on those frigid cold days when it’s gray out you find a fascinating textural wonder like this! Cannon 7D Mark II, CMT Waterhousings.

A great day in January about an hour before the sun set at the jetty.

My favorite time to shoot regardless of the temperature is late evening with the sun to my back striking the face of the waves. This particular February evening there was barely a breadth of wind. Perfect time.

I asked my fellow photographer and friend John Wright if he thought there may be a good sunset this evening. His encouragement made me run down to the inlet and a mere five seconds before dark, this beauty cut loose in all its glory!

I was in the water at dark just before the sun came up but had to get back on the shore to capture the channel 4 marker on the end of the jetty reflecting in the foam. The air was in the 20’s and the water 42 degrees. A true chilling experience.

This encapsulates the tranquility I feel when swimming in the ocean for hours.

I love the abstract moments when water mountains form in front of me.

I often tread water for hours meditating on these amazing textures in blue in front of me.
