Based on a photo I took using an aquatech Reflex Housing and a Canon 5D Mark IV with a 16-35mm f/2.8L III and dome port. I start first with hours of swimming and shooting and then when I find a worthy candidate in my Lightgroom portfolio to use as a subject for a painting, I draw out the piece in detail on a black gessoed canvas. After building up tonal areas with flats and brights (short and long flat ended brushes), I layer in multiple layers of pin stripe linear elements to show others what I see in the water. The patterned background of the sky is all done by hand by creating "figure 8 loops" with pin strip brushes from Kafka Pinstriping and Von Dago Proseries brushes.
