Frag Scene
Created in Ray Dream Studio 5, KPT Bryce, and Adobe Photoshop
Step 1- This image was created first in Ray Dream Studio 5 where several fractalized pieces were created in the perspective box using the free form modeler. They were arranged in the Time Line Window to my satisfaction and then a texture map of one of my paintings was used to create the effect of one of my canvases falling into pieces. They were extruded on the sweep path in the perspective window by clicking onto the points and dragging them outwards to the desired width and height. This was saved as a separate file and then exported to Adobe Photoshop.
Step 2- I launched Bryce and created an empty scene with an infinite sky plane and an infinite plane of water. The water textures were created in Photoshop first using KPT filters on a graduated blend. KPT texture explorer was especially helpful for this function.
Step- 3 While in Bryce, I added the form of the curved object from the preset library on the photo CD that came with the program. Bryce comes with a myriad of objects that you can use for illustration. The tool bar in the Bryce window has all of these types of objects, including PICT file images you have saved and wish to import. I used the materials browser to change the light, reflection, and surface qualities of all of the objects in all channels.
Step 4 I then opened a blank Photoshop document and brought in the KPT Bryce sky, water and circular form on a new layer. I then added a second layer and put in the fragmented pieces. While on the water layer, I used the airbrush tool to create transparent beams of light.
Step 5 I then saved the file as a JPEG and a Gif for use on the web.
