Got up early today and headed for Todos Santos. What a hot drive that was! When we entered the town of Cabo San Lucas we made a stop at Missiones Del Cabo. There was a magnificent view of El Arco, Lover’s Arch. I got some great photos of balloon's and parasails going past the arch against the deep blue sea. What a kodak moment that was. Heading into Cabo it was typical Mexican traffic. Cars zipping in and out and bars and restaurants galore catering to the sport fishing crowd. This is truly the fisherman’s paradise. Once on the road to Todas ( short 45 minute drive) we encountered majestic desert mountain landscapes and gorgeous pacific views. Todos Santos is an artists community and some of the work was spectacular. One artist, Jill Logan was especially striking with Gaughin ala Jose Rivera style portraits and landscapes in breathtaking colors. Very loose painterly style.

We stopped at Playa Los Cerritos and the surf was huge but unridable, sectioning out with huge currents and undertow. This was some serious surf with a magnificent view of the coastline with breaks lining up on points as far as the eye could see on white sand beaches against the Azure Ocean.

On the way back we stopped at several vista points to photograph the magnificent sea and landscapes. Once back at our hotel the wind had come up and it appears as though a new swell is on the way. We shall see in the morning, but for now, it is Margaritaville. Did you know that Tequila is made right here from the Agave plant? No wonder they are soooo goooooddd.

Hit the surf at dawn today and rode the short board in 4 - 5 foot glass. Wow! Best surf yet and not crowded. Most of the set waves were way overhead, with some in the six and up range. Had a great breakfast and then shot a ton of photos after the surf subsided at high tide. Went back out on the short board and wham! Tide was right and life was good. Met an interesting architectural designer who has been coming here for years and we plan on following him tomorrow to the East Cape. We hear the waves are good and no people in the water but it is way out there. We also want to investigate the estuary where underground springs contribute to a prolific palm forest and wild birds abound of all sorts. Now that’s our kind of place. We shall see.

Today we set out for the east cape and started in the town of San Jose and got some cash. After that we ambled through the small town and ventured down the dirt road towards the cape where we passed the estuary. This was a bit of a disappointment as we expected to see a wide variety of bird species but saw none. Apparently you need to venture out on the beach and see it from there. We will try that tomorrow if the surf is small. The drive out to the cape was breathtaking with panoramic views of the surf and coastline on scary cliff overhangs. I thought we were going to go over the edge any second. We went as far as we could and encountered several cars with mechanical problems but most of them seemed to be ok and needed no assistance from us. One poor guy in a dune buggy rail design was just trying his engine over and over to no avail. Breathing the dust on these roads from the passing cars and intense heat was a bit much and we took a long siesta when we returned. It seemed to be well over one hundred degrees today.

Upon our return after the siesta I went back to Zippers and caught a few waves. The swell seems to be diminishing so tomorrow we shall go back to Todos if the conditions remain the same.
We ventured down to another beach and saw a blue PT Cruiser! What a site to see that car out there on the beach! Wish we had pulled over and taken a shot of that one! Maybe we will see it again.

Whoa...do I feel bad this morning. Montezeuma’s revenge has struck pretty bad. Hope I can pull out of this dulldrum and make it to a pharmacy and get something for it. Surf looks pretty small this am. Think we will stay by the pool all day and just take it easy. I am hoping it is just the combination of foods and drinks last night and not the fearful revenge stuff.
Went into town and saw another PT Cruiser, our third so far. We have seen a blue, silver and a taupe. The temperature today must be in the 110 degree range. I thought I was going to faint in the heat checking out the stores in town. Lots of neat stuff to buy like clothes, ceramics, jewelry, etc.

I figure the only thing I had different to drink from Kris was that carrot juice liquado in Todos Santos. It sure has been a unique experience. Today I went to a pharmacy and got some Imodium and am beginning to feel better already. When I went surfing in the am I did not think I was going to make it to the beach, but I did and after dashing to the room for a little relief, we got to the pharmacy. The drugs seem to be working now that it is a little later in the day. Still waiting for the surf to climb up. It has become quite small but there is hope. A storm is brewing down south and south swells make this place rock. It may be here Thursday.
This afternoon we had new visitors to the hotel that appeared to look like the Red Hot Chili Pepper types. They had tattoo's all over and mohawk haircuts or were bald, except the girls, who wore very small thongs, high heels and pranced all over the place. They ordered about a dozen margaritas in just five minutes.
