I started the foreground areas with dark tones of green and burnt umber and built up the lighter tones of the foliage with a variety of flat, round, and pointed brushes. This is my favorite part of painting. I get a great deal of pleasure making these tiny minute dots and strokes of color found in all types of plant material in landscapes.
